Dee May is a Malaysian multidisciplinary artist, writer and independent journalist. Her textual and mixed-media work explores overlooked narratives, focusing on human rights, social justice, indigenous land, environment and intangible cultures. Her work has been supported by Rimbun Dahan Artist Residency (2020-21) and INXO Arts Award Fund (2019); and selected for international group exhibitions. Prior to her artistic career she was awarded the Chevening Global Scholarship Award, Cumberland Lodge Fellowship (Windsor, UK), as well as awards from State Library Queensland (Brisbane, Australia) and Brisbane City Council for her early documentary and photography work respectively. She has led public engagements through talks, presentations and panel participation in Indonesia, Italy, Malaysia and Singapore.

Her current artistic inquiry into valuation and (re)discovery of hope is a natural extension of her ongoing practice that questions the (re)construction of narratives and spaces and seeks to make the intangible tangible through artistic intervention and community reflection.
